Anstey Hill Recreation Park provides a spectacular backdrop of native trees, ridgetops and views of the Adelaide plains for all to experience and enjoy. You will find walkers, dog-walkers, and those looking for fitness challenges frequenting the extensive network of hiking trails therein.
This extended walk around the peripheries of the park includes some steep climbs, superb views over the Adelaide Plains, a dramatic view of the Quarry Lake, some of the wildlife of the park, and the ruins of Newmans Nursery.
Good hiking shoes, water, and sunscreen are recommended. We will pause at the top rim of the lake for 15 min to snack and recharge while enjoying a dramatic view of the lake without descending to the water level.
Note: one very steep section (6 min uphill). You must be fit to participate in this walk.
Meet at Gate 9 off Lower Northeast Rd. (see pin on the map). Easy parking in the open space across the road from the gate.
Meet at 8.20am for an 8.30am start.
