Fuzzy matching in a sargability way, with Rob Farley

Details

This session is mainly in-person, but if you need a Teams link, I can send you one. The first half hour of the in-person meeting will be networking over pizza and cake. The presentation will start after that.

Cake? Yes, this meeting marks 20 years that Rob's been running the group. So there will be cake.

Fuzzy matching

Fuzzy matching is one of the things that has been requested for nearly two decades, so it seems appropriate for this meeting. SQL Server 2025 functionality (also available in Azure SQL) brings a bunch of new things, including regex, the vector data type, and some fuzzy string functions! Finally we're able to do fuzzy comparisons within T-SQL, although there are a few things that are worth bearing in mind to get the sargable performance that you'll want.

There will be a URL for people who can't attend in person. Lunch & networking from 12 to 12:30, and at 12:30 we'll jump into the session and the online people can join then.
