AI & Edge Computing Meetup
Details
Hear two expert talks, take the mic for an AI/hardware demo or announcement, and connect over pizza & drinks.
** Important: Please register for your free Eventbrite ticket here to attend. Registration is required and spots are limited. **
A special thanks to Innovation Central Perth (ICP) for hosting and supporting this event. Based at Curtin University, ICP is part of a national Cisco-led innovation network that advances digital transformation through open innovation and rapid prototyping, delivering bold solutions to business challenges.
Take the mic at our community open mic! Bring your demo, prototype, or announcement – whether it's in AI, hardware, or embedded systems. All welcome.
Agenda:
5:30 - 6:00 pm | Pizza, Networking & Welcome
Enjoy pizza, drinks, and time to connect with other attendees before a short welcome from the event hosts.
6:00 – 6:25 pm | Talk 1: Agentic Systems Driving AI and Edge Innovation
- Overview: ICP brings together industry, academia, and students to turn AI ideas into workable solutions. This session will spotlight ICP's approach and feature a live showcase of the ICP Agentic Living Laboratory, illustrating how agentic systems help organisations explore and implement AI, IoT, and edge technologies.
- Speaker: Daniel Marrable, Director, Innovation Central Perth
Dr Daniel Marrable leads ICP's mission to bridge industry and academia through applied innovation and emerging technologies. With a PhD in remote sensing and a research background in Earth observation, Daniel's expertise spans data analytics, computer vision, and machine learning for real-world applications. Under his leadership, ICP has become a key hub for digital transformation and collaboration, supporting projects across energy, health, agriculture, and resources.
6:25 - 6:50 pm | Talk 2: New Technologies Enabling Edge AI Inference
- Overview: Neuromorphic computing is a new approach to energy-efficient edge AI, taking inspiration from biological computation. This talk will explore the commercialisation and commercial availability of Neuromorphic devices, and how they can enable low-power edge AI use cases.
- Speaker: Dylan Muir, CEO, LexChip
Dr Dylan Muir is an experienced tech lead and expert in low-power machine learning and AI, holding a PhD in computational neuroscience. At SynSense, Dylan built the ML/AI applications team and co-designed silicon processor architectures. He founded DataCross, a Swiss NGO for AI and data science, and is now CEO and co-founder of LexChip, a new technology that provides continuous in-device legal oversight for edge and autonomous systems.
6:50 - 7:00 pm | Community Open Mic & Wrap-Up
Take the mic and share with the group - from hardware demos and embedded prototypes to quick AI at the edge announcements, like project showcases, calls for collaboration, and more.
Any further Q&As and chats will happen here.
