StackTrace: A Hands-On Tech Stack Workshop

Details

StackTrace is a hands-on workshop series where we dive into a specific tech stack, one stack per session. Each event takes you from zero to deployment, building and shipping a working demo app using that stack.

This is not a talk or panel. You’ll bring your laptop, set up your own environment, and build something alongside others.

What to Expect:

  • Step-by-step environment setup
  • Walkthrough of core tools and architecture
  • Building a small, functional app
  • Deploying it live by the end of the session
  • Ask questions, share tips, and troubleshoot in real time

Whether you’re leveling up, trying something new, or just want to get your hands dirty with real tech, StackTrace is built for you.

This Session: Grails
In our first StackTrace workshop, we’ll explore the Grails web framework, a powerful platform built on top of Spring Boot that uses Groovy as its primary programming language.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Set up your local Grails environment
  • Build a small CRUD-style web app
  • Add Role Based Access Control
  • Use GORM to interact with a database
  • Deploy your app to a live environment by the end of the session
