What we’re about
This is a group for playing a variety of modern board games. Feel free to come empty-handed as I will bring my copy of the scheduled game. Each event will be limited attendance based on how many people can play each game.
Some examples of games that I plan to host:
- Obsession
- Kemet
- Dune: Imperium
- Churchill
- Hadrian’s Wall
- Scythe
- Terraforming Mars
- Wingspan
If anyone is interested in playing a game from their collection, please let me know. I am always open to new games.

Galactic Cruise
Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library, 5005 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA, USWe will be playing two games of Galactic Cruise with up to 4 players. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes.
In Galactic Cruise you work as a supervisor for the first company to offer extended-stay space vacations. You’ll be expected to not only build these ships and satisfy our guests, but also to help the company thrive by enhancing our company network, inventing new technologies, and growing our workforce. We are a united company, and you’ll often find that what another supervisor does will make your job easier. The current CEO will be stepping down in three years, and the supervisor who comes out on top will take his place.
On your turn, you will either place a worker to take two actions in the ever-expanding network, launch a ship and send one of your workers to space as a pilot, or recall all your earthbound workers to collect funding bonuses. Actions include acquiring blueprints, constructing ships, attracting guests, and building developments–connections between locations that increase action selection throughout the game. You will also be affecting resource markets that ebb and flow with the actions of all the players.

In The Castles of Burgundy each player takes on the role of an aristocrat. They aim to build settlements and powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and use the knowledge of travelers. The game is about players taking settlement tiles from the game board and placing them into their princedom, which is represented by the player board. At the beginning of each round, all players roll their two dice and use the die results to take actions on their turn. The game ends when the last player finishes their turn of the fifth round of the fifth phase. The player with the most victory points wins.
