What we’re about
Welcome to the Narragansett Chapter Young Members 20s/30s Meetup! This Meetup is sponsored by the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club (Joining this Meetup Group does not automatically make you an AMC member).
Our trip leaders host local hikes, bike rides, and social events aimed at outdoorsy 20-40ish years old. We offer activities throughout RI and surrounding areas both after work and on the weekends. Joining a YM activity is a great way to make new friends and explore the area's natural beauty.
The purpose of our Meetup is to introduce others to the wonderful outdoor opportunities offered by the AMC Narragansett Chapter Young Members 20s/30s. As a Meetup member, you have no obligation to join the AMC.But, if you enjoy participating in our events, we hope you will consider joining the AMC (https://www.outdoors.org/join-today?chapter=NA&campaign=70150000001EMs5AAG).
Please, only RSVP if you plan on attending the event. For the consideration of our leaders, we ask that you contact us if you have RSVP'ed and can no longer attend.
Our events are led by highly qualified, trained AMC volunteers who are always concerned about safety. They take every precaution to assure participant risk is minimized and fun is maximized.

Spend the day cycling the island, sitting on the beach, hiking the trails, or looking for glass floats. Whether you’d like to explore the whole island or just have a beach day, there is something for your interest here. We will take a morning ferry from Pt. Judith and ride the 45 minutes over to Block Island. At that point, participants are welcome to partake in the activity that fulfills their hearts’ summer desires. The island is small enough to cycle around, and there are many hiking trails along the way. You do not need to bring a bicycle, but it is the best method to get around the island (you can rent a bike once you reach the island). If you decide to bring your own bike, you will need to purchase its own ferry ticket! Note that this is not an official cycling event, but only one of the many options of things to do while on the island.
While on the island be sure to keep your eyes open for any glass floats:
https://www.blockislandinfo.com/glass-float-project/Once your registration is confirmed, you will be given the exact ferry departure time from Pt. Judith so that you can purchase your ferry ticket (it will be a mid-morning ferry).
Cost information (ticket costs do not include tax):
- Parking: $15-$20 (having cash is usually handy for this)
- Round trip ferry ticket: $19.60
- Round trip bicycle ticket: $7.00

Refund:
Please refer to the Block Island ferry refund policy if you find you need to change your plans.Block Island is full of great restaurants and beautiful panoramic ocean views. Beaches can be crowded but you will be able to find your own space and solitude if you know where to look. Take the opportunity to leave all your troubles behind and explore this iconic Rhode Island gem. A suggested packing list will be provided to confirmed participants, along with a formalized plan for meeting and parking. Note that each registration is for one person only - registration does not cover multiple individuals.
Note: This is intended to be a 20s & 30s affinity trip, but everyone is welcome. If you do not identify with that group, we trust that you have reviewed our allyship criteria, have done your due diligence to educate yourself, and have committed to abide by our Code of Conduct. If you have questions, please contact the trip leader(s) by emailing them for more information.
