Audience: EveryoneDescription: Join the fun at SEM's Annual Chapter Hut Weekend. Nestled in Evans Notch, for the second year we will be at Cold River Camp in North Chatham, NH. Cold River Camp offers easy access to the Presidential, Mahoosuc, and Carter Ranges, and the Saco and Androscoggin Rivers, making it an ideal base for exploration. All are welcome, youngsters, adults, retirees. AMC members from any chapter and non-members. There will be something for everyone.
The weekend begins on Friday afternoon September 26th (arrive any time after 2 PM) and ends on Sunday September 28th after a morning activity. Leaders will plan a variety of activities including family-friendly activities for example hikes, paddles, bike rides, yoga, stargazing, campfires with smores, sing-alongs, ping-pong competitions, talks and more. Be your own activity director and do as little or as much as you want. New to SEM Chapter Hut Weekend? This is a weekend of relaxation, reflection, recreation and recharging, think of it as part summer camp, part retreat, and totally fun.
A historic central Lodge welcomes guests with a spacious living room and dining room. Two hearty, hot meals (breakfast and dinner) and one bagged trail lunch will be provided daily starting with dinner Friday night at 6 PM and ending with a hot breakfast Sunday morning and a bagged trail lunch for Sunday's activities. All meals are homemade by the camp chef using seasonal ingredients and served family style or buffet. A vegan/vegetarian option will always be available to those who have requested vegetarian meals during registration. Participants may bring their own snacks as well as beer and wine (BYOB) for the daily social hour (please drink responsibly).
Charming rustic cabins offer single, double and family occupancy. Each cabin is unique featuring wood stoves or fireplaces. A few cabins have electricity and will be saved for those with medical needs. Cabin assignments will be made by the leaders to best accommodate families with children and not first come first served. Restrooms with showers are available close to the cabins. Participants must bring bed linens/sleeping bag & towel, as we are staying during the "off season".
Pro-Tip for non-members: Join AMC using the SEM discount available here . We are running a promotion that is providing a Hugh discount for an individual membership of $25 (usually $50). Once you have joined, select the Member price, it more than pays for itself on this trip alone and gives you 10% off future trips. All fees includes two nights lodging and meals.
