What we’re about
The Boston Chapter Bicycle Committee offers a wide variety of rides to cyclists of all abilities in the greater Boston area and beyond. We have day rides, evening rides, weekend in the mountains or on the Vineyard rides, short rides, long rides, easy rides, advanced rides-something for almost every one.
We also get together socially after the rides or at the annual rally and offer workshops where all can learn to fix a flat, adjust the brakes and ride safely and responsibly.
Our purpose is to bring cyclists together in a friendly social atmosphere in which people can acquire new skills and enhance old ones. Our leaders are all volunteers who have mapped out routes on some of the area's most beautiful byways.
Most of our rides provide a lead and a sweep, as well as a cue sheet and/or map. We do our best to keep you on track as well as to keep you safe! Helmets are required on all our rides. We also group rides into easy, intermediate or advanced, so that you can ride with others at a similar pace.

Midcoast Maine Bike Weekend September 5-7, 2025
Join The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) for a fun weekend of cycling, dining, and enjoying the breathtaking views of Midcoast Maine. We will be staying in the classic coastal town of Rockland, home of the renowned Farnsworth Art Museum. Our cycling routes will take us to inland lakes, mountains, and farms, as well as idyllic coastal harbors. On Saturday, we will take a ferry to bike around North Haven Island - and visit the smallest Maine microbrewery!
Each day will include 2 rides: one a moderate 12-13 mph pace averaging 22 miles with elevation gains of 1500 ft, and a vigorous ride of 13-15 mph with a range of 30-45 miles with elevation gains above 2600 ft. The terrain on the rides can vary greatly, with our island day fairly flat, but the Camden Hills on Friday will be hilly. Most roads are paved, but some scenic roads have short stretches of packed dirt.
We will enjoy the towns of Rockland and Camden, and have two Happy Hours (BYOB). Midcoast Maine is known for excellent dining, so we will eat food from popular area restaurants. Saturday and Sunday breakfast are included with the hotel reservation. Dinners and lunches are not included.
There is a non-refundable Registration Fee of $45.75 payable to AMC, which you will pay on the AMC website. This fee will cover food for one Happy Hour as well as partially defray volunteer leader costs (such as navigation, lodging, setting up and leading rides, logistical support, and meal arrangements). Once you've registered, lodging information will be e-mailed to you. The hotel is offering a block of rooms, with prices ranging from $246-$266 per night (single or double occupancy) which includes a 9% lodging tax. These room rates are guaranteed only until July 15th. The rooms have either two queen beds or one king bed, so that cost can be shared with roommates. If people are seeking a roommate, we can try to help but are ultimately unable to guarantee this. Participants should consider this when booking a room.
Dinners and lunches aren’t included, nor are tickets for the ferry to North Haven, which are $22.50 each.Learn more and register here.
