Join AMC’s Concrete to Trails Bus Trips
Discover wild places just beyond the city limits—no Uber, Lyft or train ticket required! Appalachian Mountain Club’s Concrete to Trails program offers weekly Saturday bus trips from New York City to stunning natural areas that are typically hard to reach without a vehicle. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or simply seeking fresh air and new views, these outings make it easy to escape the pavement and step into nature.
On this occasion we will conclude the 2025 Concrete to Trails season with a return to AMC Reeves Meadow Visitor Center and a route to Pine Meadow Lake in Harriman State Park. With AMC Volunteer co-leader Tim Burrows we are planning to propose two routes of varying difficulty to the lake, one of which will be similar to that of the first ever AMC NY/NoJ Concrete to Trails trip earlier this year in late July. The routes will be between 4.5 and 6 miles with about 750 to 1,000 of feet elevation gain.
The activity is rated as moderate per AMC activity guidelines and you do not need to have experience hiking to join the group. This route will be on uneven terrain of varying surfaces and we will be exposed to the Earth's elements. Please be prepared to spend our time outside while being active with intermittent breaks. We take one 'proper' break on the trip at approximately the mid-way point of our time together.
