dinner @ Kawa Ni
Details
With Michelin recognition now two years in a row: "Housed in a brick building that was once a firehouse, this unconventional izakaya from Chef Bill Taibe offers approachable Japanese cooking by way of Connecticut (home of the original location). To match the freewheeling cuisine, the vibe is lively and relaxed, with an ample bar reserved for walk-ins that offers an ideal spot to nibble while tippling an assortment of sakes and cocktails. The menu has a bit of everything, from creative shareable plates like a scallop crudo with grapefruit, ginger, and dill, or a kung pao chicken karaage; more substantial dishes of noodles, as in a carbonara-like bowl of kimchi udon with pork belly, egg yolk, and pecorino, are plenty satisfying as well."—Michelin

Q: How do I claim a seat? 🎟️
A: Only paid spots are confirmed! “Going” is just a maybe—your seat is locked once your $10 deposit hits @mandirao on Venmo/PayPal. Waitlisters can, should, and will swoop in. This keeps our table full and saves us from the classic “RSVP now, ghost later” saga. Deposits will be returned after the event. Or...
Q: What if I need to cancel after sending a deposit? 🤧
A: You'll get a full refund if you cancel by the morning before a dinner (about 36 hours out), or if someone fills your seat. If there's a waitlist, please cancel as early as possible so another eager guest has time to step in.
Q: What's the no-show policy? 🚫
A: Two no-shows, or patterns of being late or last-minute flaking may result in removal from the group. These are small, intimate gatherings, and late arrivals and empty seats affect everyone—including me, if the restaurant charges for lost headcount. Thanks for helping us keep the table full, friendly, and fabulous. ❤️
Q: How can I support? 💌
A: Did you know that your humble organizers pay about $360 a year to bring events to you on Meetup? A tiny annual donation from you is all it takes to keep the events coming. Suggested donation is $5/event or $20 for unlimited events. Just send a Venmo/Paypal to me @mandirao. Couldn't do it without you!
