What we’re about
For much more info, please visit our website at
http://www.a2skiclub.org/
The A2 Ski Club is a year-round sport and social club. We organize ski trips, both downhill and cross country: usually three or four out West, a couple Up North, sometimes Canada and sometimes Europe. We have two annual bike trips, one based in Bay View, north of Petoskey, and another that follows the KalHaven trail along the Big Lake. There's an annual Gilligan's Island canoe extravaganza, golf, hiking, and volleyball.
Our social agenda is both varied and very consistent, with an average of three activities per week. Music is a big focus, and dancing, along with Happy Hours, Movie Night, and monthly Euchre, just to name a few. There is always something to do and friends to do it with.
Our meetings, held at Cobblestone Farm, offer free food, libations and music to members, and all of the above to nonmembers for five bucks!
The Ann Arbor Ski Club has been around for 50+ years, and we currently average 300 members. We are primarily in our 40's, 50's and 60's, and many of us are single. While most of us live in the Ann Arbor area, we also have members from an area stretching from Trenton to Lansing, Brighton to Southfield, and even a few from Grand Rapids and Petoskey.
We started this Meetup group as another way to let people know about us and what we do. Our existing membership may or may not join this meetup group; they already know the "what, where and who" about our trips and events and they will be there! We send out a weekly EBlast to members and nonmembers and our events are listed on our website as well.
So, when you see an event with only one or two people attending, that's not accurate; we generally have anywhere from 15 to 25 folks at regular events, more at our dances. We are always looking to make new friends and welcome more members! It's one of our primary goals as a club.
Dues for membership in the Ann Arbor Ski Club are $30/yr per person. Paid membership entitles a member to free admission to our monthly meetings with free food, drinks and music; to sign up for our discounted trips out west and up north; and to discounts from our sponsors. We have many events which are open to the public, including members of this Meetup group. But, if you are interested in participating in our trips, please come to a meeting. The meetings are posted on our website calendar.

See all- Dexter Monday Bike RidesForest Lawn Cemetery, Dexter, MI
Host: Laura Dillmann
Join us for Monday bike rides starting May 12 throughout the summer as weather permits (except for Labor Day, September 1).
We will start at 2:00 PM at the parking lot of Forest Lawn Cemetery, at the corner of Grand and Broad. Typically we will ride north to the Hudson Mills Metropark (5 miles), ride a loop around the park (3 miles) and return to the parking lot for a total of 13 miles. Ride is flat and paved with some boardwalk.
Drinks and pizza at Aubree's after the ride on your own dime. We plan to ride every Monday, weather permitting. Feel free to email Laura with questions.
And, dogs on a leash are allowed.
Tip! Park at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, end of Grand Street.
The number of attendees will be higher than shown, as a bunch of Ski Club members will attend without signing up on meetup.
- Bikes & Brews on the Lakelands TrailZukey Lake Tavern, Pinckney, MI
Just your classic Hump Day ride!
After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we’ll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing.
How Does it Work?
Meet at 2:00 PM on Wednesday afternoons all summer at the Zukey Lake Tavern parking lot (5011 Girard Drive, Pinckney, MI). We've been given permission to park our cars at the far end of the parking lot (just as you enter off Girard, and before the first speed bump), with the assumption that most of us will stay to enjoy refreshments after the ride.
We'll pedal east to Whitmore Lake Road, then turn back, pedaling west to the end of the paved trail before returning to the parking lot (a total of about 23 miles round trip on the paved, predominately flat trail).
After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we'll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing. NOTE: There's no live music on the deck, this year, but plenty of smiles. . .
If you can't bike with us, join us on the deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for a brew or pizza.
