Summer Classic Film Series - Hollywood Home Runs: Pick of the Baseball Flicks

Details
What better way to celebrate summer than a look at “the nation’s pastime” in feature films. In our summer series, "Hollywood Home Runs: Pick of the Baseball Flicks" we’ll view four of the best of the almost 200 movies that have been dedicated to telling the story of this most defining of American sports.
Each film is introduced by area cinephile Ann Glenn with info about the film’s production, director, actors and followed by a lively Q&A session.
Field of Dreams (1989) Monday, July 21, 5pm
This fantasy drama, a 1990 Best Picture Academy Award nominee, tells the story of an Iowa farmer who hears voices telling him to build a baseball diamond in his corn field. When he does, some unreal things start to happen. A valentine to the sport that, in the words of critic Roger Ebert, “stands for an earlier, simpler time when professional sports were still games and not industries.” 1hs. 47 mins. Rated PG.
