Join us for a fun, relaxing day on the water. This is a nice trip for beginners who would like to experience a ride in a kayak or canoe. Boats will be available for rent. Or bring your own boat. Experienced paddlers can just kick back, enjoy the ride and maybe help turn someone onto the fun of being on the water and make some new friends. The trip will start on the canal paddling up to lock 60. About 2 miles or so giving amble time to get accustomed to the boat and making it go where you want it to go. We will than carry our boats over to the river and head down stream another 2 miles or so. At the takeout we will carry the boats back up to the canal for a short paddle back to the takeout. We should be off the water about 2:00PM depending on how much we swim and play. Overall, we will paddle about 5 miles or so. We will be stopping to swim and snack along the way. You may not want to eat too much at this point because after the paddle all are invited to join the group for lunch and drinks because right next to the take out is the Fitzwater Station, the Fitz, bar and grill. They are known for their smoked brisket that is exceptional (my own personal testimony). We can hang out on their deck with a view of the canal. This is a nice trip with no shuttle, easy parking and no drive for refreshments.
