What we’re about
The Appalachian Mountain Club is America's oldest conservation and recreation organization. The AMC promotes the protection, enjoyment and stewardship of the mountains, forests, waters and trails of the Appalachian region. The mission of AMC Maine is to encourage people to enjoy and appreciate the natural world because we believe that successful conservation depends on this experience.

See all- Hike Mount Meader Evans Notch AreaNeeds location
Registration is required for this activity. For more information and to sign up please visit the trip posting on AMC's Outdoors Connector.
Climb Mount Meader south of Evan's Notch. A 6.2 mile out and back hike, 2,200 vertical feet. All Trails listed as Hard, 4 hrs 6 minutes All Trails listed time. I'm an older guy and don't hike that fast anymore. Plan on 6 hours. It is reported to be well marked with good views. I personally have never hiked it.
Trailhead parking is essentially non-existent. The Baldface/Emerald Pool trail head parking lot is 0.6 miles to the south. The AMC Cold River Camp is an additional 0.3 miles further south. It is assumed that parking is available there if you are an AMC member and leave a note on your dash.
The trails are anticipated to be busy Sunday October 5. The plan is to meet at 7:50 AM at the Weston's Beach parking lot in Fryeburg. It is shown on Google Maps. Car pool from there at 8:00 AM. ETA at the trail head is 8:30 AM. If possible, park at the trailhead. Otherwise the driver will have to park at the two aforementioned locations. Commence hiking at 9:00 AM or when the drivers return.
Note Route 113 in the notch will be closed for roadwork. If you plan to come south through the notch, find another route.
After the hike have an optional beer at Saco River Brewing in Fryeburg.
