- Paddle and Camp on the Black RiverNeeds location
Join us for a multi-day trip down the Black River. We'll camp on a sandbar and enjoy some swimming, fishing, and general screwing around.
On Saturday, we'll paddle the 13 miles from Irving to Melrose. Be unloaded and ready to shuttle at the David Hansen Landing at Irving by 10am. We'll begin the shuttle at 10am sharp.
We'll camp on the island near the Melrose Landing on Saturday night. We can leave heavier gear and firewood in a car at the Melrose Landing to lighten our loads on Saturday and Sunday on the river.
On Sunday, we'll break camp and take heavy gear back to the Melrose Landing before continuing our trip down to North Bend. This 9.5 mile paddle typically takes no more than 4 hours with multiple stops for lunch and to swim and fish.
You are welcome to join us for either or both days even if you don't wish to camp on the river. Just be unloaded and ready to shuttle by 10am on Saturday or be ready to paddle by 10am Sunday at the Melrose Landing. We'll get you back to your car after Sunday's paddle.
This paddle is suitable for beginners in any length boat, although longer boats are recommended, especially to carry camping gear. There are convenient rental options for this area, but people may have extra boats to lend. Post a comment if you need to borrow a kayak or don't mind joining someone in a spare spot in a canoe.
