Welcome to Our Volleyball Group!

Hey there, and welcome to our volleyball family! We’re excited to have you join us for some competitive and fun games. To make sure we all have the best experience, here are a few things to keep in mind before hitting the court:

Skill Level & Gameplay
• We play at a B+ level or higher, so it’s important that you have solid volleyball fundamentals.
• Our goal is three passes per side—bump, set, and spike whenever possible.
• You need to know your positioning on the court to keep the game flowing smoothly.
• Setters always take the second ball unless they call for help. If you’re the setter, focus on setting every play and make sure to set all hitters—not just the strongest ones.

Game Rules & Etiquette
• No one-overs or second-overs—let’s play real volleyball!
• No open-hand receiving on serves or bump overs (except for hard-driven hits).
• No setting over the net, even if you’re an A+ player. This keeps the game fair and avoids unnecessary debates.
• Serving: Please try to get your serve in to keep the game going.
• Hand Sets: We allow one full spin, but ideally, there should be no spin at all. Call your own bad sets if needed—it’s the best way to improve! If in doubt, bump set instead.

Group Rules & Fees

I am the main host and responsible for reserving the courts with the City of Scottsdale. To play in our group, you must:
• Be respectful to everyone—no harassment of any kind (race, religion, etc.).
• Follow all the rules above to keep the game fair and enjoyable for everyone.
• Contribute to court fees:
• $40 per trimester (whether you play once or every week).
• $15 per day if you prefer to pay per session.

We love volleyball, and reserving courts ensures we have a place to play consistently. If you’re good with everything above, let me know that you agree to follow the group rules, and we’ll see you on the court!
