Details
Join me for a I right in the heart of Gloucester. Built in 1560, this historic gem has served as a guild hall, mayoral mansion, and even a judge’s lodging.
Cost: Free
Meeting Place
We’ll meet outside the door of 26 Westgate Street, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL1 2NG. If you’re late, you’ll need to find us inside or join a later guided tour.
Parking Suggestion
The easiest place I’ve found to park is the Eastgate Centre Car Park. Its address is: Eastgate Shopping Centre, Eastgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 1PA. The council’s website says the main entrance is via Brunswick Road. (Sat Nav: GL1 1XN). Last time I used Google Maps and found it OK by putting Eastgate Centre Car Park as the location. The maximum cost for all day parking is £8 and lesser times are cheaper. it can take a little while to find a park sometimes.
From their website
"Believed to be Britain’s finest example of a timber framed town house. Built in 1560, it was once the hall of the Grocers’ Guild, the mansion house of a Mayor of Gloucester and, in the 19th Century, a lodging for assize judges. Guided tours also available - Saturday and Sunday 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00."
