What we’re about
Our friendly Cycling Club is part of Cycling UK (West Sussex Member Group). Our weekly Tuesday and Sunday rides normally start between Shoreham and Littlehampton, and we also occasionally ride from other areas such as Chichester and Brighton & Hove.
Our rides usually start and finish at the same location, to give riders the opportunity of arriving by cycling, car, or train. We ride for an hour or so to a café for a coffee stop and then cycle to lunch, which is normally at a pub - or you can bring your own! The ride then returns to the starting point.
A typical Tuesday ride is around 30 miles and is divided into a couple of groups: one group cycling at around 10 mph, and the other group at a faster pace of around 12 mph. These rides are mostly along quiet country lanes and designed for cyclists who are looking for a social ride.
Our Sunday rides are longer at around 50 to 70 miles and faster paced at 12-14 mph and are designed for our more experienced riders.
All types of bikes, including e-bikes, are welcome on our rides so long as they are well maintained and roadworthy. Please bring along normal repair items such as spare inner tubes, tyre levers, and a working pump. In the autumn and winter months please make sure you have good working lights front and back. We don’t have club shirts or colours, and we don’t insist on hi-viz or a helmet.
We welcome you to come along and try our rides up to three times before you decide whether you would like to join us. Our annual membership is just £6, and you will also need to become a member of Cycling UK for insurance cover. All club rides are free of charge … so why not book on a ride and start your cycling journey with Arun-Adur Cycling Club! Check out our Facebook page too for photographs of our cycling excursions.
