Guided Nature Hike of Bucks Spring Trail

Details

This is limited to 20 guests. RSVP is required.

Join AYPROS for a refreshing morning hike along one of the most scenic stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We’ll meet at The Pisgah Inn. From there, we’ll carpool to the nearby trailhead to begin our adventure. If you’d like to stay for lunch afterward at The Pisgah Inn, please call ahead to make a reservation seating fills quickly. We expect to finish the hike around 11:15 - 11:30 AM.

Our guided walk will take us along the Buck Springs Trail, a little over a mile of lush, moderately easy terrain. Led by local guide Sue Luther of Walk With Me Tours, we’ll trace the ridge line from the former site of the historic Buck Springs Lodge to The Pisgah Inn. Built in 1896 as the Vanderbilts’ summer retreat, the lodge once hosted elegant gatherings until its removal in the 1960s. Today, hikers can still see remnants of the estate while enjoying the same sweeping mountain views that captivated George and Edith Vanderbilt.

Along the trail, Sue will share history and stories of the Blue Ridge Parkway while highlighting the incredible biodiversity that makes this region home to some of the most diverse vegetation in the world. With only slight elevation gains, this hike is accessible for all experience levels and offers a chance to enjoy crisp mountain air, vibrant plant life, and uninterrupted views along the ridge.

Where to Meet: Pisgah Inn, Blue Ridge Parkway Mile Marker 408.6
