Twin Falls/Buckhorn Gap/Clawhammer/Avery loop : 8 miles, 1000ft elevation

We’ll meet at the Pisgah Horse stables on Avery Creek Rd at 8:45 for a 9:000 sharp start.

Avery Creek Rd is closed just past the stables so we’ll walk up the road about 3/4 mile to the Buckhorn Gap trailhead. We’ll follow Buckhorn Gap approximately 2 miles to the Twin Falls trail, head down to the falls and then back on Buckhorn Gap. We’ll follow Buckhorn Gap to Clawhammer Rd, to Clawhammer trail, to Avery Creek Trail (my favorite section of the hike), back to Buckhorn Gap and then back to Avery Creek Rd and the horse stables.

Total mileage with the road walks is about 8 miles but only about 1,000’ of elevation gain (mainly walking up Avery Creek Rd and up Buckhorn Gap from Twin Falls). We’ll probably go about 2 to 2.5 MPH.
