Note: Joe will Lead this week's Wednesday Fitness Hike.

WEATHER: This hike will be canceled on OR before 7:30 am hike day due to inclement weather conditions, so check the hike status before leaving.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: This mid-level fitness hike begins at the Southern Highlands Craft Center (Folk Art Center) on the Blue Ridge Parkway and follows the Mountain to Sea Trail (MST) North to Craven Gap and back. This is a great trail for cardio and endurance conditioning consisting of progressive ups and downs including 1 extended climb, 3 moderate climbs and rolling endurance sections. Total elevation gain is approximately 2,000 ( level 6).*

We will keep an eye on the weather, and hopefully this will happen. If the trail is super icy, there's always the option to walk on the Parkway (if it's closed to cars and in decent shape).

Joe is suggesting that we share a beverage at Highland Brewing, 12 Old Charlotte Highway, after the hike (between 2:30 and 3pm) for those whose schedule permits. All are welcome to join.

PACE: We keep a brisk steady pace averaging 3MPH. We spread out a little but briefly regroup after the more strenuous sections. If your interest includes hiking for outdoor fitness and endurance conditioning, join us. The hike time is typically about 3.5 hours.

DOGS: Trail-friendly dogs welcome
