Sydney Streets Festival - Redfern

Join the Ashfield Bicycle Group for another of the City of Sydney's Street Festivals. CoS are stopping traffic on Redfern Street for a day of fun for the whole family. Enjoy offers, pop-ups, activations, festival vibes along the street with plenty of live music, entertainers, kids activities and alfresco dining. The event runs 11am to 10pm. The area will be closed to traffic between Regent Street and Chalmers Street.

Our ride will commence from the Concordia Club carpark at 10am and travel around the airport and up the Bourke St cycleway to our destination in Redfern Park at the corner of Redfern and Chalmers Streets. Here we will lock up our bikes and they will be watched over by your Ride Leader while you enter Redfern Street to enjoy the festival and have lunch. We'll probably spend 2 hours or so and then return to the Concordia Club where we started. If it is a warm day, we might enjoy a German ale at the club. 😊

This will be an easy 20 km ride (average speed 17kph) using off road and on road cycleways, mostly flat. Riders under 16 should be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. This ride is suitable for all bicycle types (MTB, Hybrid, Road, Touring and legal e-bikes). The surfaces of the off road cycle paths are concrete with some bitumen sections.

You will need a bike in good mechanical order; helmet; water bottle; spare inner tube(s) in case of puncture. Check tyre pressure before setting out. And of course, bring appropriate clothing and sunscreen on the day as well as money for food/drinks.

NOTE: Ashfield Bicycle Group has several members who have been accredited as Ride Leaders by Bicycle NSW. This ride will be led by Neil who is a certified Ride Leader with Terry (certified Ride Leader) as the "sweep". We recommend all cyclists join Bicycle NSW.
