Friday Night Feeder - "Asees Indian Restaurant" (Harris Park)

Details
Relatively flat and easy 20 km ride out to dinner at Harris Park with a 26 km ride back to Croydon Park in the dark. This would suit riders with some cycling experience who want an introduction to riding at night, using mostly off-road cycle paths, easy pace averaging 16 kph. You must be 18 years or over to join this ride.
Starting from the Lees Park public bike repair stand on the Cooks River Cycle Path at Croydon Park, we will set off at 4.30 pm along the Cooks River, through Sydney Olympic Park then under the M4 to Harris Park.
We have an indoor table booked for dinner at 6.00 pm at Asees Indian Restaurant in Wigram Street’s “Little India”, menu here. Licensed (and BYO wine, $3 corkage pp).
Expect to spend up to 90 minutes at the restaurant before we set off on the return leg, across Parramatta River and down the PV Cycleway to Meadowbank, cross the river again to Rhodes, Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush then down the Cooks River Cycleway to finish at our starting point, Croydon Park.
If 20kms is your limit, you can hop on the train at Harris Park Station after dinner, or you could cycle on another 10 km to Meadowbank Station for your return. The rest of us will cycle the 16 km on to Croydon Park, probably at a faster speed to keep warm!
This ride is suitable for all bicycle types (MTB, Hybrid, Road, Touring and legal e-bikes). You will need a bike in good mechanical order; helmet; water bottle; spare inner tube(s) in case of puncture. Check tyre pressure before leaving. As it will be a night ride, you will need a working white light on the front of your bike and a working red light on the rear; check your lights' batteries. E-bike riders should ensure their battery has a range of at least 46km.
And of course, bring enough money for dinner and drinks
Riding at night on the cycle paths is a really nice way to cycle as very few people are about after dark and we should have the paths mostly to ourselves! Make sure you have warm clothing layers, temp will be 11⁰ on return leg.
NOTE: Ashfield Bicycle Group has several members who have been accredited as Ride Leaders by Bicycle NSW. This ride will be led by Neil who is one of their certified Ride Leaders. We recommend all cyclists join Bicycle NSW.
Bicycle NSW is affiliated with more than 30 Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) across NSW and works closely with these BUGs in advocating with State and Local Governments for safe bicycle infrastructure. BNSW Members receive comprehensive (personal accident and public liability) rider insurance and a range of other benefits as well as advocacy and legal support.
