Venus Retrograde Cycle in Scorpio + Libra: October to November 2026

• August 31, 2026, Venus enters the Retrograde Zone (pre-retrograde shadow) at 22° Libra 52′
• October 3, 2026, Venus stations and turns retrograde at 8° Scorpio 29′ Rx
• November 13, 2026, Venus stations and turns direct at 22° Libra 52′
• December 15, 2026, Venus leaves the Retrograde Zone (post-retrograde shadow) at 8° Scorpio 29′

With so much internal and external change in the air, this Venus retrograde period seems to hold even more gravitas than usual. We are all in the cauldron of change: rediscovering our authentic sovereignty (Leo) so that we can engage meaningfully with the collective (Aquarius). New visions and new relationships with our neighbours (Uranus in Gemini) require this authenticity. And what better way to quality control, or check on, our own visions and values, than a good old-fashioned Venus retrograde. Venus retro always seems to hold something olden dayee to me, but it could be my entirely subjective view as my own Natal Venus is in Cancer Retrograde. But this Venus really is doing some old fashioned courting in the pursuit of our doing a recheck on our desires and motivations. Venus is re-traversing the two signs that are to do most directly with one-on-one relationships. Airy Libra is all about the negotiations and balancing act of two people trying to get along as best they can. Scorpio takes it to the depths and demands true intimacy, true merging where the ‘you and I’ becomes ‘us’. This is never a comfortable or easy process. Venus is traditionally in her detriment in Scorpio, the polar opposite of her happy home, the sensate Taurus. Scorpio refuses to loll about on velvet cushions and demands one takes the mythical journey into one’s own underworld, a kind of overheated hellish damp place where death seems to lurk at every slip up. But survive it, and survive it together with your mate, and you are truly bonded, knowing the best and worst of each other.
Over the course of her retrograde, Venus makes significant aspects to Pluto, Neptune and a quincunx to Uranus. Venus goes retrograde at 8 degrees Scorpio. On her way there she squares Pluto 16th Sept and then again on 19th Oct. Directly after these underworld sojournes Venus goes opposite Neptune. Back in the day, Neptune was oft referred to as the higher octave of Venus. Particularly from that part of Venus that is activated in Libra: the social contract. Neptune elevates the Libran qualities of compromise for harmony and takes it into a less conditional space. Love, just is.
We are in for an exciting ride. Wherever we compromise too much or give up too much of ourselves (Libran style) will gently encouraged or confronted by Neptune to disengage from our more self-centred or manipulative attitudes in relationships. And the depths of Scorpio will equally ask us not to burn down, or gloss over, our deepest feelings, the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. Only in trusting each other enough to sit with them can we rise Phoenix like, aflame with love, together.
