I have booked out the lodge for exclusive use just for Sydney Explorers, a huge complex complete with activities. Campfires permitted, wildlife excursions included with guides and learn about the stars too!

It's the place, the people, the activities, the wildlife that our guests love to come back to over and again at Wangat.

At Wangat helping our guests "plug into" nature is our focus and our passion. We encourage all groups to have a personal first hand experience with nature - our forest, our rivers and our wildlife.

Wangat Lodge is situated on the Wangat Wildlife Refuge where possums, wallabies and bandicoots are semi-tame around the Lodge; there are superb pools for swimming in the river; and an extensive network of short and longer walking trails extends from Wangat into State Forest and Barrington Tops Wilderness.

At weekends Wangat's resident naturalists are on hand to guide walks and lead night-time activities (eg. slide programs, star-gazing, spotlighting, frogging expeditions....)

I will arrange guided walks for frogging expeditions, star gazing and nature walks along with wildlife spotting.

EASY WALKS (using our Wangat Short Walks Map (http://www.wangat.com.au/images/map_short_walks.gif))These are easy walks on trails. There are some steep sections.

MEDIUM WALKS (using Wangat Short Walks Map (http://www.wangat.com.au/images/map_short_walks.gif) and ask Ken, Helen or Nikki for extra hints)These are longer walks with some steeper sections, rock-hopping and/or following creeks.

HARDER WALKS (using maps, info and mudmaps from Ken)These are day walks requiring good preparations and experience/confidence in bush navigation.

RIDICULOUSLY HARD WALKS (consult Ken and he will devise something fiendish for you!)

ACTIVITIES/SPORTS around Barrington Tops if you are not interested in the wildlife great outdoors!

Table Tennis, Volley-ball, swimming on site at Wangat Lodge.

Bicycling from easy to hard mountain bike country - ask Kenor Nikki about routes.

Horse Riding - at Barrington Country Retreat, ring 4995-9269.

Golf - at Dungog Club 9 holes.

Tennis - at Dusodie courts, day or night, ring 4995-9250.

Swimming Pool Lord St. Dungog - 33m of chlorinated water if you want that !!

Dungog Cinema - program for Fri/Sat/Sun, only $7 entry!!The Dungog Chronicle - a source of local events.

Dungog Visitor Information Centre.

A relaxing meal out at Dungog RSL, Chinese Restaurant at the Bowling Club or Chillbillies in the main street (Thurs/Fri/Sat).

Fully equipped commercial sized kitchen with gas stove, oven, grill, hot plate, fridges, freezer, microwaves, toasters, urn, kettle.

Two beautiful swimming-holes in the Chichester River

Beddings: 10 bedrooms, 9 along an adjoining verandah & 1 off the Main Hall.

4 x 6-bed rooms containing two single beds that can join together as a double plus 2 sets of bunk beds.

5 x 4-bed rooms containing two single beds and 1 bunk-bed.

Sleeping arrangements are bunk beds in dorm rooms (am trying to avoid top bunks) so mixed rooms maybe a possibility please be flexible, I will try to have a couple of female only dorms but no guarantees.

Catering: Fully-equipped commercial-size kitchen, 6 burner gas stove, grill, large oven and hotplate, toasters, microwave, urn, large fridges, small freezer, cooking utensils, pots and pans. There is crockery and cutlery for up to 60 people. A wood-fired outdoor BBQ is also available.

We Provide: Blankets, doonas & pillow.

What to bring: Sleeping bag or sheets, pillow-case, towel, toiletries, sunhat/swimmers, torch. In cooler months Jun-Aug Warm clothes e.g. hat, scarf, gloves, your favourite woolly jumper, thermals.

WANGAT LODGE is gazetted and managed as a Wildlife Refuge. No pets are permitted. To protect wildlife, please drive slowly on the Lodge access road.

Car pool will need to be arranged share petrol costs plus the park fee per car shared. Drivers please be careful when driving especially after work, stop revive survive! Slow down on gravel roads they are different to drive on than tarmac. Its roughly a 3 hour drive from Sydney.
