From concept to reality-All things Artificial Intelligence with Tiberio Caetano

Details

Joint meetup with Delivering value - shaping the future meetup.

Artificial intelligence would be the ultimate version of Google. The ultimate search engine that would understand everything on the web. It would understand exactly what you wanted, and it would give you the right thing. We're nowhere near doing that now. However, we can get incrementally closer to that, and that is basically what we work on.” —Larry Page

“The pace of progress in artificial intelligence (I’m not referring to narrow AI) is incredibly fast. Unless you have direct exposure to groups like Deepmind, you have no idea how fast—it is growing at a pace close to exponential. The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five-year timeframe. 10 years at most.” —Elon Musk wrote in a comment on Edge.org

These and many other headlines are splashed everyday across the world. Unless you are working in the field of Artificial intelligence or following it closely, it can be a challenge to keep up with the advances of this technology and logically its implications on the future of work. Come join us for an evening of understanding and exploring such questions and more with Tiberio Caetano.

Tiberio is the co-founder and chief scientist at Ambiata, where he applies machine learning solutions to clients in several industries such as retail, telecommunications, insurance, banking, media, and government. He's a machine learning researcher and academic by training, and over the years he has held academic positions at NICTA, the ANU, UNSW and the University of Sydney. He has published and been on the program committee of the top machine learning conferences, as well as graduated numerous PhD students. His main areas of interest are machine learning, causality and ethics.
