Dear AWS User Group Members,

We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming AWS User Group Meetup, hosted once again in the wonderful office of our friends at Cheveo GmbH.
We have an exciting evening planned — featuring two deep-dive sessions that showcase how AWS and open-source innovation come together to power real-world media and compute workflows.

📅 Date: October 29, 2025
📍 Location: Cheveo GmbH, Friedensplatz 7

🕕 Agenda
6:00 PM – Doors open – grab a drink and connect with fellow AWS builders

6:30 PM – Talk 1 – Patrick Steinert
🗣️ From Zero to Top-Tier: Spinning Up a Cloud MCR for Live Sports
What does it take to become a top-tier sports broadcaster—in just six weeks—without a single rack on-prem?
This talk walks through the story of building and operating a complete Master Control Room (MCR) entirely in AWS to deliver 6 UHD and 10 HD channels. Expect real-world insights from scaling 1,200 EC2 instances, 120 GPU nodes, and 500 TB of media, plus lessons learned about reliability, service limits, and what happens when live TV meets the physics of the cloud.

7:30 PM – Talk 2 – Johannes Oehmen
🗣️ Automating an FFmpeg + Whisper Audio Pipeline with Open Job Description
Learn how to orchestrate modern media pipelines using Open Job Description (OpenJD) — the open-source job specification that powers AWS Deadline Cloud.
In this session, Johannes will run a full audio-processing workflow that transcribes, performs speaker detection, and normalizes loudness using FFmpeg 8.0’s Whisper filter and Python-based tools, all executed locally through OpenJD.
Discover how this open standard brings portability, modularity, and automation to creative compute workflows — and how the same job definition can scale seamlessly in the cloud.
Includes a live demo of the full pipeline in action!

8:15 PM – Networking, snacks & drinks – time to meet other AWS builders, developers, and open-source enthusiasts
We look forward to seeing you for an evening of learning, sharing, and hands-on inspiration!

Best regards,
Andreas & Johannes
