Hike to Lake Isabelle in Brainard Lake Recreation Area

Timed Entry Needed to enter Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Reserve on recreation.gov for the Brainard Lake Picnic Site 5-8am slot. Cost is $2 with your Lifetime National Parks Pass. Plan to enter the area well before 8am to avoid being turned away!

Hike to Lake Isabelle from the Brainard Lake Picnic Site is 6+ miles round-trip. We'll hike from Brainard Lake across the meadow to the Niwot Cutoff and the Jean Lunning Trail. We'll cross over by Long Lake and continue on this trail to Lake Isabelle. At Lake Isabelle we'll continue up the Pawnee Pass Trail for a short distance in search of Glacier Lilies!

Dog Free Hike... Please leave your baby dog at home for Baby Boomer hikes.

Bring your cameras to photograph moose and food and drink to enjoy at Lake Isabelle.

What should you bring...Check the weather at trail location before you leave home and come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and snacks, and water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - rain gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared! Bring a snack/lunch to enjoy on the trail.

Carpooling: Arrange a carpool from your neighborhood. Timed Entry is $2 per car with Lifetime National Parks Pass.

Directions to Trailhead: Boulder hwy 93 to Broadway to Lefthand Canyon. Follow through Ward to hwy 72, turn right then quick left into Brainard Lake Recreation Area.
