Details

This is an out and back spike hike/snowshoe of ~6 miles roundtrip with around 800 feet of elevation gain. The first mile along Burning Bear Creek west from Geneva Creek is relatively flat. Once we leave the meadow area, the trail begins climbing through a stand of lodgepole pines. At about 2.5 miles from the trailhead, there will be remnants of an old log cabin on the left - this is where we'll stop for a snack and begin the trip back to the parking lot. The Burning Bear Trail is identified by diamond shaped metal markers (blue and gray) nailed to trees.
