Powerlifting Competition @ Movement Sunnyvale (INFO)
Sunnyvale, CA, USThe Sunnyvale Movement gym is hosting a powerlifting competition on December 13, so if you've been working out consistently (or just want to see how you compare to others), this is your time to shine! Most times when you hear people talking about lifting in conversation people compare their absolute lift numbers, but powerlifting competitions are different since they take your bodyweight into consideration too. If you're unfamiliar, take a look at https://strengthlevel.com/wilks-calculator and if you want to really get into it, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilks_coefficient
SIGN UP AT THIS LINK! I am not hosting this, so make sure you register through the link! There's a $15 entry fee, (and a $15 day pass fee if you're not a member at Movement). Since this is a competition, consider this less like a typical Meetup and more like an informational post. If you want to find other people to go with/just want to watch, feel free to use the comment section below to coordinate!
The link above has more details, but here's the overview:
This will be a friendly, all levels powerlifting competition for folks who are looking to get their feet wet in the powerlifting arena. We will be competing in back squat, bench press, and deadlift (in that same order during the compeition). Make sure to select the lifts you would like to participate in. Based on the number of participants, the timing of each lift will be subject to change. We will send out a rough schedule of the event the day before the competition. If you are choosing a lift in the middle of the event, please be sure to arrive early to check-in and wait for the start of that lift. We will NOT be allowing a late start.
There will be one open category for men, and one open category for women. Winners will be determined by the highest Wilks Score (using the 2020 Wilks formula) with information from weigh-in.
