What we’re about
Bay Area House Concerts is where hosts, performers and lovers of live music connect to make magic happen. The events posted here are unique "listening room" opportunities, each of which is organized slightly differently but always in an intimate setting.
Note these are limited capacity concerts so each RSVP matters, If a host has confirmed they are expecting you, and agreed to let you "pay at the door," it is never okay to no-show without making the expected financial contribution.
If you are not yet a co-organizer but host house concerts and would like to post your events here, please contact our lead organizer (Winter Williams) directly to discuss contributing to the shared cost of maintaining this Meetup group,

See all- House Concert Featuring Lucky BreakMy living room, San Rafael, CA
Please join me for my next house concert featuring lucky break! I heard lucky break (Emma Gerson) sing at SF Coffee Fest last Fall. I found her voice just lovely, and immediately asked if she would play at one of my house concerts. Lucky for us, she said yes!
Emma Gerson is a 23-year-old New York-born indie rock artist based in San Francisco. After spending six months abroad battling heartbreak with the help of ‘90s slow burns (the likes of Fiona Apple, The Magnetic Fields, and Pavement), she returned to California, thought deeply about the right name (something that drew from new age spirituality with a touch of humor), and the project, "lucky break," was born. Blending classic alt-rock, punk, and modern indie pop with a knack for homegrown radio hooks, the Biggest Thing EP marks lucky break's first official release. The collection, poised to establish the artist as a significant new voice in music, was recorded with Elliot Woodbridge (Ha Vay) in a makeshift car studio, each track offering a glimpse into the mysticism and whimsy of her expansive sonic world. And it’s just the beginning: she is currently deep in production on her full-length debut.
I found this wonderful article about lucky break and her first three releases, and thought it captured how I felt about her music at first listen.
Donations are $25 per person in cash at the door, or please Venmo the artist directly @Emma-Gerson. Be sure to bring extra cash with you as she will have merchandise for sale.
As is custom with house concerts, please bring a beverage, appetizer or dessert to share. But please, NO RED WINE to save my carpet from that after-show blush!
- Hattie & Joe Craven Live @ Echoes in the Valley (Cole Valley SF)Cole Valley, San Francisco, CAUSD 30.00
This show will be a wild mixture of father/daughter chem, raucous energy, and virtuosic instrumentalism.
Joe's bio is pretty stellar: Joe Craven is an American freestyle folk, world and roots music multi-instrumentalist, singer and educator. He plays a wide variety of string instruments, including fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, tres, cavaquinho, balalaika, as well as percussion, including a pickling jar, a credit card, or a jawbone. Craven is a well known sight at acoustic music festivals and, for many years, was violinist and percussionist for the David Grisman Quintet. He also played percussion in the group Psychograss with fiddler Darol Anger and mandolinist Mike Marshall. Craven lists some of his influences being Jimi Hendrix, dumpster diving, Hermeto Pascoal, thrift stores, Frank Zappa, educator and aesthetician John Dewey, beachcombing, Carl Stalling, Eddie Palmieri, field recordings, Tiny Moore, Los Pleneros De Viente Uno, Darol Anger and The Horseflies.
Joe: Craven has played with many notable musicians including Jerry Garcia, Stephane Grappelli, Alison Brown, Rob Ickes and David Lindley. He performs solo and in different sizes and versions of his own projects, most notably The Joe Craven Trio.
Hattie: Having grown up in a musical household & community, Hattie Craven has lived and breathed music since her early years. Her father, award winning performer and educator Joe Craven, has been a continuous source of inspiration, fueling Hattie’s own exciting musical journey.
