The Internet of Things and Real Time Analytics with Influx

Details

We are back with a strong line up for our next meetup covering IoT and real time analytics and Australian Privacy Laws relating to Big Data (sorry for the delay!).

The Influx (https://influxdata.com) TICK stack is the industry's first and leading open source time series platform for IoT, realtime analytics and custom devops monitoring. The Influx team will be joining via videoconference (from the UK) to present on the following:

  • Getting started with time series data
  • Working with InfluxDB (a time-series database designed for high-performance writes and compact disk storage)
  • Working with Telegraf (input/output connectors for InfluxDB)
  • Working with Kapacitor (data processing framework for InfluxDB that makes it easy to create alerts, run ETL jobs and detect anomalies)
  • Working with Chronograf (A UI for securely visualizing InfluxDB data with collaborative features, intelligent graphing templates and dashboards built-in)
Influx have put a lot of work into their latest release. Their recent benchmarks (https://influxdata.com/blog/influxdb-markedly-elasticsearch-in-time-series-data-metrics-benchmark/) show that they are one of the worlds leading IoT software providers (wrt to write times, response times and disk space).

We will also be joined by Daniel Kiley who will be providing a brief introduction to the Australian Privacy Principles, the kinds of information and activities they regulate, and what they say about how organisations can collect, hold, use and disclose personal information. Daniel is an Associate at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, where he assists clients with commercial matters in areas including intellectual property, information technology and privacy.
