Information on Time- Remote Data Ingestion and Transf. with NiFi/MiNiFi and IoT

Details

Interested in accessing remote data from a variety of sensors and hardware with an easy-to-use, secure dataflow platform? Apache NiFi is being used in real world IoT, ICS, and connected vehicle deployments to gather massive amounts of data in real-time, process, transform, and transmit that data across the world, and allow analysts and monitors to derive real value from information that was previously unavailable, unorganized, or outdated.

Andy LoPresto, a committer and PMC member for Apache NiFi, will present about IoT use cases and development with NiFi and the sub-project Apache MiNiFi. Learn about the design philosophies of flow-based programming and NiFi's implementation, and see demonstrations of interaction with devices like thermometers and thermistors, credit card and identification card readers, and a surprising tool chain invented by a desperate father (not Andy).

The goal of this meetup is for you to walk away with new capabilities, ideas, and enthusiasm for developing IoT systems and applications.

While the presentation will focus on IoT interaction, if you have questions about NiFi behaviour or deployment in any scenario, a Q&A session will provide ample discussion and opportunity for collaboration, so feel free to ask.

The agenda for the evening:
• 5:30pm – 6:00pm: Getting to the Venue and Social
• 6:00pm – 6:05pm: Welcome
• 6:05pm – 6:50pm: Speaker (Topic of the night + Demo)
• 6:50pm – 7:05pm: Closing Content: Q&A
• 7:05pm – 7:30pm: Pizza and networking.

Bio:

Andy LoPresto is a Sr. Member of Technical Staff at Cloudera (previously Hortonworks) working on the Cloudera DataFlow and Data In Motion teams (previously Hortonworks DataFlow team). In this role he serves as both a Committer and Project Management Committee Member for Apache NiFi, an open source, robust, secure data routing and delivery system. Andy focuses on security concerns within NiFi including identity management, TLS negotiation, data protection, access control, encryption and hashing. Andy is also involved with the sub-projects, Apache MiNiFi, which drives edge data collection, including secure command and control and immediate data provenance and governance, and Apache NiFi Registry, which provides complementary applications for flow versioning, development to production lifecycle, asset management, and extension library services. Over the last few years, he has presented about NiFi and MiNiFi in Singapore, Tokyo, Melbourne, Berlin, Sydney, Brussels, Portland, and San Jose.

Kindly RSVP and looking forward to seeing you all there.

Cheers
