AI: More Than Just Enhanced Code? The Humanizing Journey
AI has generated significant buzz and activity. Yet, for many users, it remains akin to an enhanced search engine, a content generator, or a coding assistant. For those using Langchain-enabled tools, AI is often just another module in a defined process—an incremental upgrade to existing engineering practices that allows them to build apps within specific parameters. While the value of these functions can be immense, they may not quite reach the towering expectations set by sci-fi depictions of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).
However, a contrasting perspective suggests that AI is inching closer to human-like capabilities, something previous technologies haven't managed. This view posits that AI is gradually taking over roles and tasks that were once uniquely human. Consequently, our relationship with AI might need to be more akin to how we relate to fellow humans.
In this presentation, we'll delve deeper into this concept:

  1. Humanizing AI & Its Merits: How and why we should treat AI as a "colleague" rather than just code.
  2. The Human User Interface: What does this mean, and why does it matter?
  3. The Human Threshold: How close to "human" can AI reach? What are its current capabilities, its pace of evolution, and are there inherent limits to its progression?
  4. Ripple Effects: What are the implications for:
  • Data Scientists
  • IT professionals
  • Workers across all sectors
  • All biological humans
  1. Do Biological Humans Have a Unique Edge?: Exploring the concept of a "moat" that might keep humans distinct or indispensable.

As is typical with Eugene's presentations, this outline is merely a flexible guide. Expect the unexpected and be prepared for a few surprises along the way!
