According to Google AI:
"The English Reformation was the 16th-century separation of the Church of England from the authority of the Pope, initiated by Henry VIII primarily to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. It led to the establishment of royal supremacy over the church, the dissolution of monasteries, and a shift to Protestantism, though the monarchy's religious policies fluctuated between Catholic and Protestant rulers before Elizabeth I definitively established the Anglican Church ."
