See all- Spring Mountain Reserve – Bird WalkSpring Mountain Reserve, Greenbank, QL
Spring Mountain Reserve is a relatively new site for bird watching. It offers plenty of waterfowl and bush birds. Various honeyeaters are seen here, and hopefully, we’ll be able to great some good views of a few kingfishers and fairywrens. Either way, it will be a good time. Kangaroos often make an appearance in the picnic area. This walk is easy and flat with a mixture of sealed and unsealed paths.
At the end of the walk, we’ll have a quick BYO morning tea and go through the bird list.
There are public toilets on-site at the picnic area close to the parking lot.
This event is free. A gold coin donation is appreciated (but not mandatory) to cover the organiser fees. Alternatively, you can buy me a coffee at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/BirdsSEQMeetupThings to Bring:

Distance: 4.0km - Coombabah Lakelands – Bird Walk MorningCoombabah Lake Conservation Park, Coombabah, QU
Coombabah Lake Conservation Park is one of Gold Coast’s top bird watching locations. This site has plenty of water & bush birds and raptors are seen frequently. The track we’ll be taking is easy and flat. Kangaroos, wallabies, and koalas are often seen here also.
This outing will comprise of not just one but three bird watching locations! You don’t have to do them all.
We’ll be spending most of the time at the first site, Coombabah Lake Conservation Park accessible via Lakelands Rd. Upon return we’ll have a morning tea and a bird count.
After this, we’ll drive 10min around to the other side of the reserve to do the short 1km return mangrove boardwalk. This track has many waterbirds and mangrove resident species. We’ll then drive 2min down the road to the lookout at Coombabah Wastewater Treatment Plant (the birds are worth the smell 😉).
There are no toilets on-site, if duty calls, please see https://toiletmap.gov.au/
