The purpose of Blerds of San Diego: A Black Nerds Meetup is to participate in safe and fun spaces for black nerds, or blerds, to experience nerd outings, events, and programs. Black nerds can feel represented as a group and make friends and connections with like-minded folks.

Balboa Park, Kalmia Street and Balboa Drive, San Diego, CA, USCalling all brave Blerds—this October, we journey into the shadows…
Join Blerds of San Diego for a chilling night at Haunted Trails, one of Balboa Park’s most iconic Halloween attractions! We’ll navigate through twisted pathways, creepy corridors, and lurking horrors together—because what’s better than screaming your lungs out with fellow nerds?
🎃 What to Expect:
- Group entry into the Haunted Trails experience (we’ll go in together!)
- Fun, spooky vibes with fellow Black nerds who love Halloween
- Optional post-haunt hangout for snacks, drinks, or decompression
- Costumes encouraged (but not required)—especially if you’re a spooky sci-fi or fantasy fan
Whether you’re a seasoned scare-seeker or just in it for the laughs, this Blerdy trek through terror is the perfect way to kick off the Halloween season.

Escondido Renaissance Faire, 742 Clarence Ln, Escondido, CA, USHark, noble nerds and gallant geeks! Blerds of San Diego doth ride forth to the Escondido Renaissance Faire for a day of merriment, mayhem, and medieval magic!
Join your fellow Black nerds for turkey legs, sword fights, artisan markets, fantasy cosplay, and all the olde-timey antics your heart desires. Whether you’re a rogue, bard, queen, or time-traveling anime knight, you’ll find your people here—frolicking in fellowship and looking fly doing it.
🍗 What to Expect:
- A group hangout at the Escondido Ren Faire
- Costumes encouraged but not required (bring your cosplay, steampunk, or casual fit—no pressure)
- Meet other Black nerds who love fantasy, history, and silliness
- Cheer on jousts, shop for trinkets, and feast like royalty
