Attuned Snorkelling - Clovelly or Gordons Bay
Details
And we are back! Join us for a snorkelling and mindfulness adventure!
In the context of the climate crisis... so much is being lost, it's hard to comprehend it. And yet, so much beauty, diversity and mystery remain.
Attuned Snorkelling is about using the beautiful modality of snorkelling to turn exquisite attention outwards, towards the natural environment from a place of connection with oneself. We hope that the connection thus forged will inspire in you a sense of responsibility for the protection of the ocean.
Rather than chasing the next spectacular experience, we will train our eyes on the small and the understated. We will lovingly look for the connections that sustain the intelligent marine ecosystems. We will also turn the gaze upon ourselves - how do we fit in?
During the 3-hour skill share, we will offer the following:
- Breathing and sensory awareness exercises - to open your lungs and senses in preparation for the water
- Introduction to the art of listening and noticing – to help you pay attention to subtle cues while snorkelling
- Discussion of wildlife interaction protocols and swimming techniques – to guide your underwater interactions so that they have the least negative impact on the environment
- Self-guided snorkelling session at CLOVELLY or GORDONS BAY
What we are NOT offering:
- snorkelling, freediving or swimming tuition in the water.
What to bring:
- Mask, snorkel and fins
- Rashie or wetsuit for protection
- Towel
- Sun protection materials
- Water bottle
- Notepad and pen
- Cushion (optional)
This invitation is for 12+ yo. confident swimmers only. Young people must be supervised by an adult at all times.
NOTE: This is not a supervised experience. You will be encouraged to form buddy pairs and stay together for safety.
We reserve the right to cancel the event last minute should unsuitable weather conditions arise.
If you're no longer able to attend, please cancel your booking on here to release your spot. Thank you for your consideration.

“I fell in love with [my wild octopus friend], but also with that amazing wildness that she represented. What she taught me was to feel that you’re part of this place, not a visitor.” Craig Foster, My Octopus Teacher

About Tod:
I am an avid snorkeller and go most days at my local spot North Bondi, when the conditions are suitable.
One of my favorite experiences is snorkelling above Sea Grass and seeing Blue Groupers. There is something about the shafts of yellow sunlight, the undulating green grass and the deep blue of the grouper as a colour palette that rocks my world.
I love sharing the wonders of the ocean with friends, new and old.
