Set on a private farm within the foothills of the Helderberg Mountains, half-way between Somerset West and Stellenbosch, the Helderberg Farm Trails offers beautiful views over False Bay, Table Mountain and the Stellenbosch vineyards. Helderberg Farm offers the perfect venue for hiking, family get togethers, friendly braais, birthday parties, and mountain biking. Interestingly, the name “Helderberg” translates into Clear Mountain. The mountain indicates the expected weather patterns of the upcoming days in that if there are clouds gathering around the top, rain can be expected. Clear skies, on the other hand, result in beautiful sunny days to come.
Come hike with us and enjoy a friendly braai at this stunning venue immersing yourself in the beauty and unique charm of Herlderberg Farm.

Basic agenda:
We will be arriving at Helderberg Farm from 08:00
Every hiker needs to report at the Tea Garden and pay a hiking permit before the hike proceeds.
From the Tea Garden, we follow the Yellow Section Trail along the Moddergatstroom to a small irrigation dam and then further through a forest and vineyards to a wooden deck where we will take a break. Visible from the hiking trail is a panoramic view of the Cape Peninsula, False Bay, Table Bay and Table Mountain. On a clear day, hikers can even see Robben Island which is approximately 65km away. The Boland Winelands stretches to your right as far as the eye can see.
After a break, we will descend via a steep gravel path back to the forest and braai area to have a friendly braai. The use of music is prohibited in order to maintain an appropriate ambiance.
The braai fires will be lit after 10:00 and after the braai, we will be ready to depart by 15:00.

Fresh strawberries, grown bio-friendly on the farm, are served in season and are available for visitors to handpick between October and December. The Red Door Nursery next to the paintball field sells lovely pots, plants and trees in various sizes.
