Welcome! We are a coffee shop bookstore located in SW Portland featuring great coffee and diverse books. We host readings and book launches on Friday and Saturday evenings, and children's storytime on Saturday mornings. Join us for writing fun and prizes!
In this snappy writing contest, we give the writers four writing prompts and set the timer for 30 minutes. When the time is up, they read their stories and the judges select a winner—all right there on the spot. There’s no time to hesitate, second-guess, or hold back. Then the winner takes home prizes! All writers are welcome, from published professionals to newborn novelists.
Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to grab a snack or drink. The event will start at 7:00 p.m.

BOLD is thrilled to host a reading with A. Molotkov, author of A Bag Full of Stones.
Join us as A. Molotkov discusses his new novel, A Bag Full of Stones, dissecting right-wing crime in contemporary America.
A. Molotkov’s poetry collections are The Catalog of Broken Things, Application of Shadows, Synonyms for Silence, and Future Symptoms. His novel, A Slight Curve, is forthcoming in October; his memoir, A Broken Russia Inside Me, due out in 2026, won a small press award. Molotkov co-edits The Inflectionist Review.
