Panel Discussion
Jonathan Wyner is a professor at Berklee College of Music, where he has taught for over three decades in the Music Production and Engineering Department, specializing in mastering, audio restoration, and emerging audio technologies. He previously served as President of the Audio Engineering Society (AES), where he championed innovation, diversity, and the integration of new technologies such as machine learning and immersive audio. Jonathan also served as Director of Education at iZotope, helping bridge product development and education to make cutting-edge tools more accessible to creators worldwide.
Scott Simon is the CEO & Founder of Sound Strategy Partners, where he advises and consults with founders, operators and investors shaping the future of music and audio-technology. As an Assistant Professor at Berklee, he teaches “Managing a Technology-Driven Business” in the Music Business/Management department, helping students navigate the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the creative industries. Prior to these roles, Scott held senior business-development leadership at iZotope, where he led strategic corporate initiatives and partnerships during a period of transformative growth.
Mark Ethier is the Co-Founder and former CEO of iZotope, the award-winning company whose audio technologies revolutionized how music is recorded, mixed, and mastered. During his two decades of leadership, iZotope became an industry cornerstone – earning multiple Engineering Emmy Awards for breakthroughs in audio repair, restoration, and intelligent processing. Mark now serves as the Founding Executive Director of the Berklee Emerging Artistic Technology Lab (BEATL), a student-centered initiative that bridges artistry and innovation. Through BEATL, he is empowering musicians to explore machine learning, generative AI, and new creative technologies – preparing the next generation to shape the future of music creation.
