What we’re about
Boulder Ramblers was founded in 2015 by Colorado-based Walk2Connect in partnership with the City of Boulder. For six years, we operated as the Boulder chapter of Walk2Connect, offering free community walking, hiking, and rambling trips in and throughout Boulder County, CO, with a focus on building genuine connections to others, to the places we live, and to ourselves. In 2021, the Boulder Ramblers community assumed ownership of this group to keep rambling together!
Our community members host walks, hikes, and urban adventures every week throughout the year. Check our calendar to find what's coming up. We focus on urban hiking: exploring the quiet streets, multi-use paths, and trail systems east of the foothills (with some adventures in the higher elevations within Boulder city limits). Please be sure to read the walk/hike descriptions carefully to determine whether a particular adventure is right for you. We tend to move at a steady "fitness" pace (2.5-3 MPH), unless otherwise noted.
This group offers great ways to get to know local urban trail systems and find creative, appealing ways to connect destinations in Boulder, Louisville, Superior, Lafayette, and beyond by foot. We advocate for "life at 3 miles per hour," slowing down the pace of life to appreciate how we are connected to everything around us. We are a safe, welcoming and affirming community that supports people of all backgrounds, identities, and circumstances.
Check back often as new walks will be added throughout the year. Have a great idea for a walk or urban hike? We'd love to hear from you!

TYPE: Urban Hike | PACE: Fitness | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, Multi-Use Paths, Dirt Trails | DISTANCE: Approx 6.9 miles | ELEVATION GAIN: About 500 feet
Walk Description: The Walk 360 is Boulder's signature slow marathon - a 26-mile urban hiking route around the periphery of the city. This summer and fall, we'll cover that same ground (and more!) on a series of mini-loop urban hikes. On this mini-loop, we'll do the Central Urban Hike beginning and ending at Brewing Market Coffee in the BaseMar shopping center (Baseline and Broadway). Brewing Market opens at 7:00 am, so arrive early to use the restroom and get a coffee or breakfast treat. This map illustrates all of the mini-loop routes (the route for this hike is in purple): https://caltopo.com/m/1SU2
Each mini-loop incorporates part of the original Walk 360 slow marathon route into a shorter self-contained route showcasing a different part of the city.
Schedule and Planning: We will meet at 7:30 am in front of Brewing Market. The BaseMar shopping center is easily accessible by the Skip bus and others. See the City of Boulder Transit Map to learn about how to navigate the city by bus. If you drive, it is best to park in the neighborhood east of 27th Way and walk to the shopping center (you can park on Elm or 27th St.). This urban hike is almost 7 miles, so it should take us about 2.5 hours to complete.
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching started volunteering with the Boulder Ramblers in 2015. She is the author of "The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder." You can reach Darcy at (720) 805-8293 or besturbanhikesboulder@gmail.com.
