📢 Speakers & Talks

🧙 Dino Costa

Dino is a Software Engineer with a passion for Elixir, Backend Development, and Developer Experience. He loves designing tools and building products with Elixir, from scalable Web APIs to creative projects like MIDI sequencers.

Outside of work, he enjoys tinkering with synthesizers and has recently developed an interest in Rust.

🎙️ Navigating Elixir’s AST - Credo and Sourceror’s Building Blocks

This talk explores Elixir’s Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), the foundation behind many powerful tools in the ecosystem, its structure and purpose. We’ll examine how both Credo and Sourceror leverage the AST to enable static analysis, code transformation, and linting. By the end of the session, we'll apply these insights through a practical example of building custom checks and transformations.

🧙 Daniel Caixinha

Daniel Caixinha is a software engineer, currently working at Sona, where he is using Elixir and Phoenix LiveView to build great products that can also handle the high growth of the business.

After graduating from Instituto Superior Técnico, he joined the startup world, mainly using Ruby, but he also got the chance to play around with Elixir, which made him fall in love with functional programming in general, and Elixir in particular.

Besides building Elixir applications, he is fostering the use of Elixir, being a co-organiser of the Lisbon Elixir meetup.

🎙️ LiveView's Async API: A Tale of UX Improvements

Phoenix LiveView is famous for its ability to empower teams to move very fast, allowing us to build complex features with just a fraction of the code needed in traditional approaches (e.g. SPA). But what happens when performance starts to degrade, and particularly when the user experience (UX) starts to plummet?

In this talk we'll explore how LiveView's incredibly nimble async API can help us, guided by a real-life story that we at Sona have faced in production.🧙
