BreadBreakers Day of Service
Details
Sometimes the best way to build community is to serve the community. At our first-ever BreadBreakers Day of Service, we'll have the chance to serve our community together - with two different ways to volunteer (please fill out this form to choose). You can:
- Support the unhoused by volunteering at the Restonstrong Remakery;
- Fight hunger by assisting the South Lakes High School Food Pantry with one of their largest packaging events;
At the end, we'll gather for a celebratory lunch where we can share our stories and enjoy some time together as a community.
Please fill out this form as soon as possible to select a service opportunity and receive specific time/place details.
Here's how the day will work:
- Around 9am (specific time will vary for each service opportunity), each volunteer will arrive at their chosen service location and check in with your BreadBreakers Service Captain.
- You'll receive the time, place, and name of your Service Captain after filling out the above form.
- Volunteering will be generally between 9:00-11:15am (some variation for each option).
- After you're done volunteering, you're invited to gather for a celebratory lunch from 12:00-1:30pm at the Reston Wegmans second floor dining room.
If you have any questions or have any dietary restrictions for lunch, please email [BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com](mailto:BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com). We'll have vegan options available, and can also get GF / celiac-safe options by request. Lunch is free, with optional donation to help cover costs.
BreadBreakers is a community dedicated to rebuilding the town square, one table at a time. We’re a movement to restore kindness in America’s discourse, normalize the art of listening to each other, and restitch our social fabric in a time of mistrust, polarization, and loneliness. As a religiously inclusive initiative by Restoration Church: Reston, we are a blended community of the faith-rooted and the secular. As we like to say, "all faiths and stripes are welcome!"
