Details
Join us for an evening of fun, food, and friendly competition at our Board Game Bonanza! This isn’t just any game night - we’re adding a twist with a potluck dinner and a white elephant exchange.
6:30 p.m. Potluck Dinner: Bring your favorite dish to share with the group. It could be anything from appetizers to desserts. This is a great opportunity to showcase your cooking skills or share a taste of your culture.
7:30 p.m. - White Elephant Exchange: In the spirit of giving we’re hosting a white elephant gift exchange. Bring a wrapped, unmarked board game (value must be at least $30-40, you may pair multiple gifts to equal the minimum value in which case only one of the gifts must be a board game). You might go home with a treasure! This will be run at 7:30, please show up at least 10-15 minutes before then to participate.
We can’t wait to see you there for a night of delicious food, exciting games, unexpected gifts, and hilarious sweaters. Let the games begin!
White Elephant Gift Exchange Rules:
Each player must bring one wrapped board game to contribute to the pool.
Gifts should be worth at least $30.
We’ll draw numbers to determine the order.
Player 1 will go first, followed by Player 2, and so on.
Player 1 will get a final turn at the end.
On your turn, you may either:
Open a new gift from the pool, or
Steal an already opened gift from another player.
Stealing Rules:
On your turn, you can steal any opened gift.
If your gift is stolen, you have two options:
Steal a gift from someone else.
Choose a new, unopened gift from the pool.
You cannot steal a gift that has already been stolen during the current round.
A maximum of three steals can occur per round.
Example: Sally is number 3 and steals an opened gift from Samuel. Samuel cannot steal back the gift Sally took, so he steals a gift from Mark. Mark cannot steal the gift that Sally or Samuel are holding, so he steals a gift from Jacob. Jacob cannot steal any gift because there have already been three steals this round, so he must choose a new unopened gift. Then, it's number 4's turn.
After everyone has a gift, Player 1 gets one final opportunity to steal.
In the final round, the three-steal limit is suspended, but no gift can be stolen more than once.
