This month we're joined by well-known roboticist Juxi Leitner to talk about some of the work he and the team at Brisbane-based Lyro Robotics (https://lyro.io) are producing. The talk will focus on three aspects of hardware enable AI startups:

  • How to design, develop, and deploy embodied AI systems (and how to scale them!)
  • Lessons learned when transferring innovative technology from research into deployments.
  • The Australian issues, funding caveats and other pains for early stage companies.
PLUS: there will be videos of robots!

About Juxi:
Juxi has extensive experience in robotics, AI, and entrepreneurship. He is Cofounder and Managing Director of LYRO Robotics, a Brisbane-based, venture-backed company building smart robots to help overcome the labour shortage in the supply chain. Juxi started his first venture at age 15 in Austria and has spent the better part of the last two decades in research and academia with short stints in industry.

Before starting LYRO in 2019, Juxi was leading the robotics manipulation efforts at the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (ACRV), most notably leading Team ACRV to victory in the Amazon Robotics Challenge 2017. He has authored 100+ publications and is known globally as a leading researcher in robotic vision, learning, and grasping.
