Luminous Lantern Parade & Multicultural Music Festival at South Bank

The Luminous Lantern Parade is a celebration of multicultural Brisbane. The parade travels around South Bank and then ends up at the South Bank Piazza (Amphitheatre) where there will be an evening of live music.

Where & When
NOTE: There are crowds and we have to go from the parade to the Piazza, and details may change, so watch the comments for updates.

5:30 pm
Meet at Starview Bench (Put Starview Bench in Google Maps and you will find us). It is on Clem-Jones Promenade in front of the Riverside Green Playground. It is also just north of the far end of Street Beach.

6 pm
The parade starts at 6 pm and will pass on Clem-Jones Promenade before turning left up to the South Bank Piazza where it finishes at 6:45 pm.

6:30 pm (or so, depending on the lantern parade)
Re-Convene at the South Bank Piazza (the theatre), I will add a photo in the photos section.

Music is scheduled to start at 6:45 pm.

• Beats Tamil Dance Group – Traditional and contemporary South Indian rhythms
• Heilani – Pacific Island dance and storytelling
• Bolivia Marka – Folkloric Bolivian dance and music
• Tazumal Salvadoran Dance Group – Colorful cultural performances from El Salvador
• Wazee Wa Kijiji African Band – High-energy African beats and community spirit

9:30 pm
Entertainment ends. We can kick on if we are in the mood.

What to bring
With the crowds and the fact we are moving around there won't be an opportunity to BBQ, picnic or share food. So either eat beforehand, bring your own dinner or grab some food there.

NO ALCOHOL is permitted in the Piazza and probably no alcohol on that day either. So don't bring alcohol.

How to find me
I will have a little pole with a red ribbon on it, or have a red ribbon on my bag (or both). I will add my phone number on the day in the comments.

NOTE: I WILL BE WITH THE GROUP AT THE DESIGNATED MEETING POINTS. YOU HAVE TO COME TO ME. DON'T EXPECT ME TO COME AND FIND YOU. YES PEOPLE WILL ARRIVE LATE, IT IS OKAY, BUT IF YOU CAN'T FIND ME ONLY CONTACT ME DURING BREAKS IN THE PARADE AND PERFORMANCE. I only add that comment because at other similar events people would turn up at random times and places and expect me to find them. I will be where I say I am in the comments.

Voluntary Contribution: We are asking for a totally and completely voluntary contribution of $1 or $2 per event. You can contribute more or nothing, we don't mind. The idea is the group is about the people who come, and so we want the group to be able to keep going, no matter who the organiser is. Please contribute if you can.
