Decouple style & components, content security policy, contribute to open-source
Details
Sorry for the announcement delay everyone! We made it though - we're in October! Time flies... Only 3 more BrisJS for 2018 too!
Unfortunately I won't be there to speak to you this month, as i'm going to be in hospital for the arrival of my son! Don't worry however, Kory Nunn has kindly stepped up from serial BrisJS presenter and heckler to MCing your night. Please thank him for keeping the BrisJS momentum :-)
We have great talks set up as per norm, and of course you can partake in pizza and drinks from our sponsors while networking with your peers.
⏱ Schedule:
6:15 PM - Arrive & mingle - wait at Gallery Level elevators for security to let you up (same level as the train station)
6:30 PM - Welcome & introductions - Kory Nunn filling in for Kevin V
6:45 PM - Talks begin…
⚡️Contributing to Open-Source Software - Nicholas Jamieson (@ncjamieson)
Nicholas has been deep in the trenches of the Open-Source project world and knows a thing or two about this wooly world. He's been a maintainer and contributor in the Open-source sphere for the last two years and he's currently a member of the RxJS core team. If that's not got you interested already... you can find out first hand why you might want to consider contributing in some different ways,... learn how to get maintainers to love you, and how to get your foot in the door.
Pizza thanks to PCCW Global and Alcorn group! Drinks thanks to Just Digital People :-)
🔬CSP: Can See Purpose - Nathan Dench (@nathandench)
Hot off the keyboard of developing an airtight CSP for his work; Nathan will take us through what the oft-forgotten Content Security Policy really is, and why should we all have one?
...the real question is how can we implement it without breaking everything? Tune in and find out!
💫Destyle - decouple your styling from your components - Matt Way (@_mattway)
The talented Matt built 'destyle' as a trial for a project, after getting annoyed by all the available styling options in react. Matt will take us through the benefits of destyle to manage your style namespaces, and start a conversation on how we can bring sense in a component styles world.
