Electron, React snapshot, DRY, Full text search!
Hosted by BrisJS - Brisbane JavaScript
Details
Hello BrisJS members both new and regular! While it looked like we may not do a May meetup, we've managed to solve our issues after all!
For a bit of context, i'm travelling for work at the moment, but the venerable Kartik and Kory will both load balance hosting duties for your monday night.
Please share the lineup with your friends/colleagues/world and RSVP to join us on monday night, as they may have missed it.
Don't forget you can also partake in pizza and drinks from our sponsors while networking with your peers!
⏱ Schedule:
6:15 PM - Arrive & mingle - wait at Gallery Level elevators for security to let you up (same level as the train station)
6:30 PM - Welcome & introductions by Kevin Vanderbeken

The app itself is coded in TypeScript, using React for the UI and is built on the Electron platform. 🔬DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) in the Wild - Andrei Hawke (linkedin.com/in/andrei-hawke-b9140a14) - 10-15min:
A good programmer can be a lazy one... DRY in Principle results in constructing things in a way to reduce your future work or mindless repetitive code. Andrei will run us through a Sample Company (4x Teams with NodeJS/Angular) and show us how it can save time, and how DRY results in real world code.
🧰 Cloud based full-text search experiences - Ben Cochrane ~ 15min
TBA: Creating permissioned, full-text search experiences in web apps using Algolia with Firestore triggers and Google Cloud Functions.
