Join me for a lovely circular walk along the River Chew which offers scenic countryside, and historic sites.

The two most notable of these are:

Stanton Drew Stone Circles- The 3rd largest complex of prehistoric standing stones in England steeped in mystery and history. โ‚ฌ1.00 fee to access.

Pensford Viaduct- A disused railway bridge built around 1873 to carry the Bristol & North Somerset railway over the Chew valley.

The walk is 8km long and will take around 2-2.5 hours to complete.

Once we are done we can have lunch and/or drinks at the Rising Sun pub at the trail start. The pub is award winning with great pub food as well as a large outside space and cosy indoors.

We will take a 10.36 bus from Bristol Temple Meads T1 bus station which will arrive 11.14 at Pensford. If you plan to drive over meet us there. I have heard parking can be difficult in Pensford so I would to look into this if coming by car.

I would recommend to wear walking/hiking shoes as it may be muddy.
